Students from the Columbia Area Career Center (CACC) earned first place in a recent Make48 classroom challenge, showcasing creativity, collaboration and real-world problem-solving skills.

Hickman High School students, Logan Allen, Chase Trim and Ethan Childs made up the  winning team, Absorba Vent Cover. They took top honors while competing in the “Build for Living” challenge presented through the Building Science Symposium. Students were tasked with designing innovative solutions connected to building science and livable environments, applying STEM and design-thinking principles throughout the process.

The challenge was made possible through the support of the Building Science Symposium and industry partners including Huber, Systemair, Sashco, Aarow Building, along with dedicated teachers and mentors who guided students throughout the experience.

The Make48 classroom challenge gives students hands-on opportunities to innovate, collaborate and apply technical skills in a competitive, real-world setting. Successes like this highlight the strength of CPS career and technical education programs and their focus on preparing students for future careers.
